Asistencia para el reasentamiento

ILA’s Resettlement Assistance program guides at-risk artists as they navigate the relocation process and provides support as they reestablish themselves professionally in Europe.

About Resettlement Services

At-risk artists who experience forced displacement and relocation typically arrive in a new country suddenly and unexpectedly, without resources, a plan of action, or a community to act as a safety net upon arrival. They have often experienced trauma in conjunction with their displacement. As a result, for most at-risk artists, it takes time to re-stabilize.

ILA’s Resettlement Assistance program exists to help at-risk artists rebuild stability and regain the conditions needed to continue creating. We support artists not only as beneficiaries of protection, but as professionals with long-term goals, creative identities, and the right to participate fully in public and cultural life.

Ámbito del programa

ILA’s Resettlement program includes:

  • Personalized resettlement planning, adapted to each artist’s situation
  • Connections to professional opportunities, institutions, and networks
  • Support navigating administrative and logistical needs, through referrals and trusted partners
  • Resources for well-being, including mental health and social support services
  • Guidance toward financial assistance opportunities, emergency funds, and grants when available

Our Approach: Holistic Resettlement Services

An artist’s creative process can often return only once basic needs are stabilized.

That is why our approach is holistic: we aim to support each artist’s personal realities as well as their professional trajectory, with care, respect, and long-term perspective.

We assist artists in re-establishing themselves professionally through:

  • Access to open calls, residencies, fellowships, and educational pathways
  • Help preparing applications, CVs, portfolios, and artist statements
  • Strategic guidance for building a professional and artistic network in a new country

What We Don’t Provide

Our program is designed to support and guide artists through a network-based model. It does not include:

  • Direct housing provision
  • Direct financial assistance or fundraising
  • Direct mental health counseling or social work
  • Tax advice or formal legal services outside ILA’s casework

Support ILA’s Work

As censorship rises and artists are targeted for speaking truth to power, protecting creative voices has never been more urgent. Since 2024, ILA has supported over 100 artists at risk. Your contribution ensures artists can keep creating, sharing, and inspiring change—protecting both their voices and the right to artistic freedom worldwide.
